Rinat Jumabayev wins the XIX Open Internacional d’Escacs de Sants, Hostafrancs i la Bordeta.
 

 The young Grand Master prevails in the last round against the argentinian Leandro Krysa after scoring 8,5 points.

 

The 29th edition of the Sants Chess Open has been held today. The games of the last round started at 9:30 AM, giving as a winner of the A section the player Rinat Jumabayev. The young Kazakhstan has the Grand Master title since 2009 and currently is the top player on his country. The play-offs games decided the title, awarding the second and third positions to Dmitry Svetushkin and Julian Martin.

Marc Petit won the group B after the forfeit of his opponent, giving him the extra point to surprise Elena Casset. Both players finished with the same score, awarding her the second position. The third place was for Adrián García.

Carlos Segura has been the winner of the C section, despite his loss during the last round of the tournament. Victor Oliva and Adam Abdelkader had won the second and third place, respectively.

The first teams’ place has been awarded to the Botvinik Chess School from Russia, one of the most important schools on its country who had participated with a large players’ representation as the Grand Master Stanislav Novikov – who finished 11th – or the young promise Lev Zverev who, with only six years, has finished as the first under-14 player of the tournament.

The 19th edition finished with an historic participation. During the 10 days of competition 796 player from around the world had fill the different playing venues of the “Centre Cívic Cotxeres de Sants”. It is the 19th time the historical Building held this competition and is waiting impatiently to break a new record for its twentieth anniversary next year.
